Properties
Potassium nitrate is a colorless transparent orthorhombic crystal or powder and particle, with a relative density of 2.109 and a melting point of 334 ℃. When heated to about 400 ℃, oxygen is liberated and transformed into potassium nitrite, which is further heated and decomposed into potassium oxide and nitrogen oxide. Soluble in water, liquid ammonia and glycerol; Insoluble in absolute ethanol and ether. It is not easy to deliquesce in the air and is an oxidant.

Potassium nitrate is a chlorine free nitrogen potassium binary compound fertilizer, containing 13.5% nitrogen and 45% potassium. When applied, it has good solubility and no hydrogen release.
